What Kind of CPR Do I Need?

What kind of CPR do I need? There are two kinds of CPR: Professional Rescuer and Public CPR.

 

Professional Rescuer Level of CPR

(either AHA BLS for Healthcare providers or ARC Professional Rescuer)

If you respond to medical emergencies as part of your job, you most likely need Professional Rescuer CPR. Also, most hospitals, medical offices and EMS agencies require professional rescuer CPR.

Massage Therapist NH

Is CPR and First Aid requreid for license? Yes

 

Does CPR and First Aid count as continuing education? No (according to the AMTA).

 

Body Art NH

Is CPR and First Aid required for license? No

 

Blood borne Pathogens is a required course for licensure.

 

Does CPR and First AId count as continuing education? Unknown

 

Bodyworker (Reflexology, Structural Integration, and Asian Bodywork Therapy)

Is CPR and First Aid requreid for license? No

 

Does CPR and First Aid count as continuing education? Unknown

 

Electrologists

Is CPR and First Aid requreid for license? No

 

Does CPR and First Aid count as continuing education? Unknown

 

Continuing Education...

"Two of the five live hours must be in one of the following: infection control, blood-borne diseases, universal precautions, Human Immunodeficiency Virus/Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome (HIV/AIDS) or sanitation-sterilization."

LNA

NH: Based on an inquiry to the NH Board of Nursing, they do not specify what kind of CPR an LNA must have, but most healthcare facilities and nursing educational programs require a professional rescuer level of CPR (either AHA BLS for Healthcare providers or ARC Professional Rescuer) rather than public CPR (AHA Heartsaver CPR).

Childcare Providers

NH: Heartsaver CPR (or equivalent). New Hampshire state law requires that all child care programs have someone present who is trained in CPR. Most childcare programs require that all staff be trained in CPR and first aid.

Continuing education topics include:
